Dave Dolan our broadcast partner in the Middle East will take a look at 2013 and a preview of 2014

As promised we are going to go now to the Middle East as we look at a Middle East News Update with David Dolan.

JD: I have heard the leaders of Israel say Iran is their number one threat; as we look into 2014, is that still the case today?
DD: Yes, Iran will continue to be Israel's number one threat, number one enemy for the next year as long as there is any sort of a nuclear program going on and as long as it's leaders continue to talk the way that they still are talking despite this nuclear accord that was signed in late November. The head of the Iranian revolutionary guards basically threatened a coup against the Rouhani government there if it continues negotiations with the United States. The revolutionary guard is  a very hard line Islamic Militia so we could have something like that happen, if that happened, then I predict Israel would take advantage of any internal bust up in Iran to strike at it; that could come Jimmy, at any time in 2014 despite this nuclear accord which Israeli's see is already coming apart.
JD: The Israeli's have threatened to do a preemptive strike on the weapons program, a nuclear weapon of mass destruction there in Iran, do you think that is going to be a go if indeed there is not a reversal by the Iranians?
DD: If the Iranian regime does not agree to destroy the centrifuges, then Israel will do it. 
JD: In Syria, they are almost at three years of a civil war, is that a threat to Israel?
DD: Jimmy, this has turned into one of the most brutal wars of the last few decades. This is almost unprecedented for the Middle East, a major war is raging and again it's not only that it's raging right on Israel's northern border, which it is, but it is raging in a country that is still in a state of formal war against Israel.
JD: Let's go to the south and look at Egypt; Moslem brotherhood taken out of the presidency, and then called a terrorist organization. I don't believe the Moslem brotherhood is going to go away. What about Egypt?
DD: No, the Moslem brotherhood won't go away, even when it was banned for many decades, it still was active underground and now it's banned again as you just stated and it, I'm sure, will still be active.

Let me remind you that David Dolan can only forecast what will happen in 2014 based upon his own thoughts, but in addition to that, his research and his own experience that he has had in the area of the Middle East.

However, God's Word is absolute in the area of Bible prophecy. Let me suggest these prophetic passages with a focus on the issues covered in my interview with David Dolan. 

Iran is Israel's number one enemy, to find out about that in Bible prophecy; Ezekiel 38:5 where Persian is Iran today. 

Syria as a threat to Israel is foretold in Daniel 11:40-43; king of the north there would be Syria.

And Egypt, along with the Moslem brotherhood, is talked about in Daniel 11:40 where the king of the south is Egypt today.

The Palestinian threat to the Jewish state is talked about in Malachi 1 and Ezekiel 35; and concluding with their destruction forever in the book of Obadiah.

I trust you had a blessed Christmas. Even in times of economic difficulty and stress, God's blessings are still evident all around us. We Americans, especially, are beneficiaries of His kindness and generosity. Let's not forget that all year long. 

On this week's edition of "The Hal Lindsey Report," I'll discuss 'The Modern Lie.' Hitler's philosophy was that if you told a big enough lie (one that rational folks wouldn't be foolish enough to devise) and you repeated it often enough, the people would begin to believe it as truth. We're seeing exactly that strategy at work in the world today. In fact, the conflict that seems to preoccupy the world is predicated on an enormous lie. The mainstream media, the Leftists, and many governments of the world have either fallen prey to the lie or are actively perpetuating it. Either way, the conflict it fosters is equally deadly. More ominously, 'The Modern Lie' is rooted in and animated by 'The Everlasting Hatred.' 

As we watch our government purposely distance itself from our longtime ally, Israel; as we watch it cozy up to the regimes that are threatening to annihilate the Jewish state; as we watch our President and Secretary of State John Kerry try to strong-arm the Israelis into national suicide, we have to ask, "How can we be so blind to reality?"

Islam is destroying democracy in France and all across Europe

A recent report says that Islam in France is destroying the nation of France. This recent report says that Islam is increasing in influence and power in the European continent. With more on that story, here's my broadcast partner Dr. Rob Congdon.

Dr. Rob Congdon: There's a growing movement throughout Europe bringing many cultures from around the world, uniting them together into one union will actually make for a better world as people understand each other, they live together and they blend. What has happened is as Islam has come in, they have come in in massive numbers particularly in France.

They have come up from Africa and as they have come in, instead of blending in or the melting pot concept, they are basically starting to assert themselves and trying to take over. The support is growing for limiting migration into the European Union, particularly Muslim integration because they see it is not working and this is tough on them because they really promoted the idea in the past to bring in all these people.

Islam plays a major role in our world today which is setting the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.

Islam is a major factor throughout the entire Middle East, but also in many nations in Europe. European leaders are working to get control of the situation which seems to be worsening day by day. The ancient Jewish prophets never mentioned the word Islam however they did reveal an end of times scenario that would factor in many nations in the Middle East and Europe that have one thing in common, they are Islamic. For example in the book of Daniel chapter 11 verses 40-43 you'll read about the King of the North, modern day Syria and the King of the South, Egypt. In Psalm 83, the Psalmist mentions a number of nations that will align themselves to destroy the Jewish state of Israel, nations like Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian people.

In Ezekiel 38, the ancient Jewish prophet mentions Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan and the nation of Libya. The lowest common denominator among these nations is that all of them are of the Islamic faith. Now with the spread of Islam across Europe and its growing influence in these European nations, you can see how the prophetic scenario found in the Bible of the alignment of the nations moving to destroy the Jewish state of Israel is coming more into focus.

The growth of Islam in Europe is indeed helping to set the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.

There has been a miraculous mysterious birth reported to have taken place in a shepherd's field near Bethlehem in Israel

We have a report of a birth taking place in an open field near the little Arab village of Bethlehem. The shepherds are reporting they have found the newborn babe with His parents; the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger, a food trough for the animals.

There are also reports that last night, their were Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) in the skies over and around Bethlehem. Some of the shepherds are saying that the UFOs were actually angels and this host of angels were actually singing joyful songs of the long awaited Jewish Messiah. There are unconfirmed reports that this little baby is the One that has been spoken of by the ancient Jewish prophets for hundreds of years, the one to be born in Bethlehem and to become the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, the Son of God.

The birth of Jesus Christ fulfilled all the prophecies in the Bible for the presence of God with us - Emmanuel - and it does actually set the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.

For over 2,000 years the story of the birth of Christ - which is recorded in four chapters of the Bible Matthew 1-2 and Luke 1-2, actually only 168 verses - has been responsible for authors writing so many books that one library could not contain all of the volumes. The composers have penned the music and lyrics for musical manuscripts with Jesus Christ as the theme of these musical numbers, the most used theme in all of music history.

Though Jesus never traveled more than 100 miles from His hometown, men and women have traveled to the far reaches of this earth to tell others the story of this man, the God-man born 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem. It is interesting to note that the Messiah, Jesus Christ, started in a cradle, a manger, He carried His cross to where they would crucify Him, but death could not keep Him, He arose from the dead 3 days later. As He left this world to go back to Heaven, He promised that He would come again to earth, this time wearing a crown.

This God-man, Emmanuel - God with us - came by way of the cradle to the cross and soon He will come wearing a crown; Jesus Christ, the Messiah, who has and will fulfill Bible prophecy.

An Islamic cleric in Israel says that he would rather die than to see the rebuilding of a Jewish Temple in Jerusalem

Sheik Raad Salah, the leader of the Islamic movement in Israel and speaking to Muslim students at Haifa University, told them that he would rather die than to give up the Islamic holy site where the Dome of the Rock is located in Jerusalem, the Temple Mount, and suggested the students should be ready to do the same.

Sheik Salah also repeated his claim that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu was intending on completing his plan to gain control of the Temple Mount and to rebuild the Jewish temple on the site that Muslims believe is holy - the third holiest site after Mecca and Medina.

Muslims that would give their lives to protect and possess the Temple Mount in Jerusalem area actually setting the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.

The Temple Mount in Jerusalem is becoming more and more a center of controversy. The Temple Mount is the third holiest piece of real estate for Muslims. To the Jews, it the most holy site in all of the world and the site of the first and second Jewish temples . Muslims who are ready to die to protect and possess this site would fit a scenario that will be played out in the last days according to Bible prophecy.

Zechariah said that the Temple Mount would be the center of controversy in the end times (Zechariah 12:2). Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Joel said that the Muslim world would come to Jerusalem to take it from the Jewish people (Isaiah 51:3, Ezekiel 36:35, and Joel 2:3). Ezekiel also wrote of a temple on the Temple Mount for the Messiah to rule and reign from that location (Ezekiel 40 - 46). Ezekiel's temple is the temple for the kingdom period in the future.

The next temple to be erected on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem will be the one standing during the seven year Tribulation period (Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15, II Thessalonians 2:4, and Revelation 11:1). However, this next temple will not be built until after the Rapture when Christians depart from Earth for the heavens. Until that time, no one can build the temple even Prime Minister Netanyahu.

The US and Russia may be plunging into a new Cold War

As the US and Russia move into another Cold War, the end of times scenario found in God's prophetic Word also comes much better into focus. The battle between the US and Russia over adoption of Russian babies by American families is only the tip of the iceberg and evidence that these two superpowers are not getting along, this surfaced recently in the media. The supposed reset of relationship between the US and Russia did not work for whatever reason and now every issue gets bigger and bigger. The tensions between these two have intensified also because of the concerns that Russia is trying to regain its superpower status by making decisions that fly in the face of what is best for America. This said, any student of Bible prophecy has known for years that Russia plays a significant role in the last days. Ezekiel 38:2 is where you find the name Magog which will be the nation mentioned as the leader of an alignment of nations that will move to destroy the Jewish state of Israel. Magog dates back 4500 years ago to right after the Flood when God gave Noah and his sons the responsibility of re-peopling the earth, Genesis 9:1. In Genesis 10:1-2, Japheth has a son named Magog who raised his family, taught them a new language, and moved to a geographical location just North of the Caspian and Black Sea, a place called Russia today, Genesis 10:3-5. Ezekiel 38:12 foretells that Russia will be the leader of many nations who will attack Israel to annihilate the Jewish state. Russia is indeed that nation and Bible prophecy will indeed be fulfilled.

The Iraqi people who were under the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein believe their present prime minister is becoming another dictator

Key political factions in war torn Iraq have accused their present prime minister Nouri Maliki of becoming a dictator and setting in place a governmental system similar to that of the late Saddam Hussein who ruled the Iraqi people with an iron fist in a decade long dictatorship.

Anti US Shiite cleric Muqtada Sadr who leads one of Iraq's political parties has accused Prime Minister Maliki of trying to either delay or actually cancel the next Iraqi election and lead the country under a dictatorship similar to the style of the late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

A return to an Iraqi dictatorship like the one under Saddam Hussein is a precursor for the fulfillment of Bible prophecy.

For over a decade, Saddam Hussein led the Iraqi people as a strongman dictator and he gave the orders for thousands of his own people to be killed because they refused his leadership. Muqtada Sadr, a radical Islamic cleric who has a large militia under his leadership as well as a political party that Sadr heads, wants to bring down the Maliki government thus the reason for accusing Maliki of being a dictator.

This scenario fits the prophetic passages in God's Word that reveal a period of time in the future when Iraq will once again be under a dictatorship according to Revelation 18 and 13:16-17. These passages indicate that dictator will be the Antichrist, the Satanically energized personality of the Tribulation Period. Modern day Iraq, a war torn nation today, will indeed rebuild and be known as Babylon, that's its biblical name, and it will become the economic, political, governmental capital of the world that rules under the dictatorship of the Antichrist. The ancient Jewish prophets reveal that after Babylon comes back to power it will be destroyed, Isaiah 13-14, Jeremiah 50-51 and Revelation 16.

A move towards a dictatorship in Iraq today is indeed setting the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.

A number of European Union foreign ministers want to create a super president for the European Union

A select group of European Union foreign ministers are working on a plan to create a super president for the European Union that would include merging the roles of the presidents of the European Union Council and the European Commission which would be a more legitimate democracy in the European Union because this super president would be elected by the members of the European Parliament.

This proposed new super president of the European Union would be the overall powerful leader of Europe with responsibility over Europe's economic matters, all foreign policy, and any European military operation.

The call for a super president of the European Union is a page out of Bible prophecy for the end of times.

The results of a meeting with a select group of European foreign ministers is the need for a super president to lead the United Nations of Europe into the future.  This super president of the European Union would play the major role in economic policy for the 27 member states of the European Union and this leader would have responsibility for the direction of the European Union foreign policy as well.  With plans in the EU for a military force in the near future would give leadership to this super president for military affairs as well in the European Union which would then become a major force in geopolitical events in our world today.

This report is almost like reading the prophetic scenario that can be found in Bible prophecy for the last days.  The ancient Jewish prophet Daniel wrote 2500 years ago of the revival of the old Roman Empire (Daniel 7:7, 23-24).  Daniel 7:8 reveals that a little horn which comes out of the ten horns of Daniel 7:7 will take control of the ten horns.  Now this is a prophetic scenario of the Revived Roman Empire and its leader the Antichrist who will be indeed a super leader who comes to power.

The European Union is today at least the infrastructure for the Revived Roman Empire and there are a number of potential candidates to become the proposed super president.  The political activities of the European Union and its potential super president are evidence that Bible prophecy will be fulfilled.

As the Jewish people celebrate Hanukkah there is an interesting connection to Christmas as well as the Syrian crisis in the Middle East

Hanukkah is the Jewish holy days that mark the defeat of the Grecian leader Antiochus Epiphanes who tried to destroy Jewish worship at the Temple in Jerusalem and was defeated by the Maccabees who rose to the occasion and defended the Jews from a terrible tyrant.

On December 25, 168 B.C. Antiochus entered the Temple and desecrated this Jewish holy place by slaughtering a pig on the altar which was eventually reclaimed by the Jewish people three years to the day later with the lighting of the Menorah.

The celebration of Hanukkah, celebrated by the Jewish people, marks a victory of a Grecian king who controlled what is Syria today, but this Jewish holy day has a connection to Christmas as well.

The eight day Jewish holy days of Hanukkah mark the victory over the Grecian King Antiochus Epiphanes who ruled what is today Syria. The eight days result from the lighting of the Menorah with enough virgin olive oil for the Menorah to burn one day, but instead it burned for eight days. That happened in 165 B.C. when the Maccabees reconsecrated the Jewish Temple after the madman Antiochus had committed an abomination of the Temple which happened exactly three years to the day before on December 25, 168 B.C. By the way the date, December 25th, was chosen by the early Church fathers to celebrate Christmas because Jesus Christ celebrated Hanukkah, John 10:22. When Antiochus slaughtered that pig on the Jewish Temple altar, the Bible called it the abomination that maketh desolate, a prototype of the abomination of desolation that the Antichrist performs at the mid-way point of the Tribulation Period, Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15, and II Thessalonians 2:4.

Since this Satanic event will take place in a Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, that reveals to us that there will be a Temple in Jerusalem for this prophecy to be fulfilled and the next Jewish Temple is ready to be rebuilt right now. In addition, there must be one that fulfills the prophecy for the Antichrist. That world dictator is alive and well on planet earth today and ready to assume his Satanically energized power and seed of authority, Revelation 13:1-3.

Jews celebrating Hanukkah today is a reminder that in a near future day Bible prophecy will indeed be fulfilled.

Pope Francis says that the world should not judge gay people

Pope Francis when asked about the gay lobby in the Vatican responded with the statement that we should not judge gay people but instead integrate them into society. Our broadcast partner Mike Gendron in Dallas, TX reports what the official stand on sodomy is in the Catholic church.

Mike Gendron: The cataclysm of the Catholic church does not condemn homosexuality outright, it merely teaches that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered. So that's one of the problems. This homosexual problem within Rome will continue until the issue of celibacy is looked at. The Roman Catholic church needs recognize that as long as it forbids its clergy people to marry that they are going to have to have some form of sexual expression and oftentimes this results in homosexuality.

There's an ongoing problem and I think what's happening here in the Vatican is really the tip of the iceberg because in 2002 there is a book that really exposed much of the scandal and perversions that are taking place in Catholic seminaries. The book is entitled "Goodbye Good Men" by author Michael Rose, and he said in his book according to former seminarians and recently ordained priests that this gay subculture is so prominent at certain seminaries that these institutions have earned nicknames. It has been said that over half of the Roman Catholic priests are now homosexuals and seminaries are but a proven ground for them to come out and put on a collar and hide their sinful condition.

Sodomy, homosexuality in the Catholic church is a sign that Jesus is about to return to the earth, that is according to Bible prophecy.

Jesus warned in Luke 17:28 that He would return to the earth when our society was like the days of Lot 4000 years ago. In that day, sodomy, homosexuality was prevalent in Sodom and Gomorrah. Men were having sexual relationships with other men. Our society today is once again immersed in sodomy approved by many people even the leaders of our nation. who commit sodomy and even those who approve of it. The Apostle Paul wrote that God rejects this lifestyle of sodomy, homosexuality and will judge those who commit sodomy and even those who approve of it, Romans 1:24-32.

Open homosexuality in the Catholic church is indeed setting the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.

Verify, But Do Not Trust by Hal Lindsey

The world dodged a bullet last week — a big, nuclear-tipped bullet. With the sanctions againstIran finally beginning to show results, the United States rushed to cash in on that small, surface movement. At the last minute, the French put a stop to (or at least postponed) an agreement that would have been a disaster for the entire world.

Before concluding any high stakes treaty with Iran, a fundamental problem needs to be addressed. Do their overtures represent a genuine desire for peace, or another attempt to delay the West from taking actions that would stop them from acquiring the nuclear weapons they clearly want. If they get them, will they use them like North Korea has — as a means to occasionally blackmail their neighbors into propping up a failing regime? Or, do they have something even more sinister in mind?

Two years ago, the Iranian government produced and released a documentary called “The Coming is Near.” It told about the “Mahdi” — an Islamic messiah many Iranian Muslims believe will one day come to earth and begin a worldwide Islamic “caliphate.” They expect him to arrive during a time of chaos and crisis. And they are apparently not above manipulating world events in order to bring about such chaos.

I should note here that some accuse Christians of trying to manipulate world events in order to expedite the return of Jesus. But no real Christian sees the Second Coming as something we can hasten with violence. We follow the Prince of Peace. He said, “Blessed are the peacemakers,” and we strive to be exactly that. Yes, we see dark things on the horizon, but they are not of our making. World events are turning as He said they would. It is His doing, not ours.

But many of Iran's leaders have a completely different view when it comes to the return of the “Mahdi.” They seem willing to devastate the world if it means bringing about “The Coming.” When discussing an agreement with Iran, we need to ask — do they want to live and prosper in a world where Israel also lives and prospers? Or, are they willing to do anything, say anything in order to get nuclear weapons and be able to use them against Israel — even knowing the death that could reign down on them as a result? Are they, as a nation, willing to do in the world what the suicide bombers they support do in buses?

In 1987, when Ronald Reagan signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, he said, the United States would “Trust, but verify.” Mikhail Gorbachev said to him, “You repeat that at every meeting.” Reagan responded, “I like it.”

“Trust but verify” was richly Reaganesque. It showed his inherent friendliness, but also a no-nonsense toughness. It recognized that relationships are built on trust, while also recognizing that trust and accountability go hand in hand. It was a real “road map for peace.”

Since then, in one form or another, “trust but verify” has been repeated by every U.S.president, and many other leaders around the world. President Obama used those words a couple of months ago regarding Putin’s peace plan for Syria.

In dealing with Iran, the level of trust is exceedingly low on both sides. Iran has a history of violent abuse of its citizens, exporting terrorism around the world, and promising to wipe out the nation of Israel. A few days ago, they held a “Death to America” concert at the site of the former U.S. Embassy. They continue to use those words — “Death to America” — as the slogan for their military. A meaningful nuclear deal with Iran will require a lot of extra “verify” to make up for the missing “trust.” It must include verification without restrictions. But so far, that idea doesn’t even seem to be on the table.

A terrorist group has warned Israel: Harm al-Aqsa Mosque and we will open the 'Gates of Hell'

The popular resistance, one of a number of Palestinian terror groups in the Middle East has threatened Israel that if there is any harm to al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem they will open the 'Gates of Hell' against  the Zionist enemy.

The terrorist group said that the Islamic nations have started waking up and are ready to meet their religious commitments towards Palestine and al-Aqsa. The former Mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Sabri, says even the Western Wall is not Jewish but belongs to the Muslims and any attack by the Jews on the al-Aqsa Mosque will endanger the safety and stability of the entire Middle Eastern region.

A threat by a Palestinian terror group that if the Jews harm the al-Aqsa Mosque, they will open the 'Gates of Hell' against them is a page out of Bible prophecy for the end of times.

For over 1300 years the Temple Mount in Jerusalem has been a focus of the Islamic world. Though it is the third holiest site in Islam after Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia, Jerusalem is an honored site that the Muslims want as the location for their worldwide kingdom, a caliphate. However, the Palestinian terror group is warning they will open the 'Gates of Hell' against anyone who harms al-Aqsa. Muslims could put millions of martyrs on the Temple Mount to fight off any Jewish effort to remove al-Aqsa so they can construct a Jewish Temple on the site.

This scenario is foretold in Bible prophecy and will be played out in the future. Zechariah 12:2 reveals that the Temple Mount will be at the center of controversy in the last days. Malachi 1 reports that descendants of Esau, the Palestinian people of today, will try and rebuild their national power base in Jerusalem. Ezekiel 35:5, 10 speak of a time when the Palestinians will kill the Jews and take the land, i.e. the Temple Mount, that God has given to the Jewish people. Obadiah 18 foretells of the Jews defeating the Palestinians when the Messiah, Jesus Christ returns to Jerusalem.

Jesus Christ will build a Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount, Zechariah 1:16 and no Palestinian terror group will open the 'Gates of Hell'.

'The Hal Lindsey Report'

I first began studying Bible prophecy in 1955, shortly after becoming a Christian. In 1956, I attended a lecture at Rice University in Houston. Colonel Robert B. Thieme spoke for more than two hours showing how the Suez Crisis of 1956 fit into the predicted scenario of end-time events. 

He said that Russia would back Egypt and the Muslims in their struggle against England, France, Israel, and much of the west. He also detailed how Russia would later become the driving force of a Muslim coalition that would eventually attack Israel and start the first phase of the war of Armageddon. 

Needless to say, I was hooked. As all of this played out on the world stage, it gave me an assurance that the Bible had to be the Word of God. For nothing man created could be that accurate about specific events that would happen hundreds and, sometimes, thousands of years later. 

In 1969, when I wrote The Late Great Planet Earth, the Soviet Union was approaching its zenith as the world's other superpower. But, according to Bible prophecy, Gog is to be a strong regional power, not a world conqueror. That meant that God had to stop the Soviet Union before it became a world-dominating power which wouldn't fit into prophecy. 

He did. 

This week, I'm going to review how Russia is becoming the Gog described by the ancient prophets. Against all odds, including the improbable collapse of the Soviet Union and Russia's subsequent rise from the ashes as a strong regional power, national alignments that seemed impossible 40 years ago are now falling into place. Russia, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, and the European Union are all players that have, in some cases, made complete U-turns in their historical roles. Just as the prophets predicted. 

That means that if the Bible is right about these things, then it's right about everything else. And that includes Jesus Christ's promise to redeem you from your sin. But Satan, the accuser of the believers and the father of lies, wants you to think otherwise. In fact, he will try to convince you that you're not REALLY forgiven. He'll tell you that even though you've confessed your known sin and regained fellowship with God, "He won't forgive you this time." 

If we confess our sins to God but still do not believe that we are truly forgiven, then we have unresolved guilt that will keep us from believing God in the future and walking in the Spirit. If we mistakenly believe (as Satan wants) that God is still holding something against us, then we will spiral into an ever-deepening estrangement from God.
