The Great Shaking by Mark Casto

Many voices in the body of Christ are declaring that this is the generation that will see a Third Great Awakening in America. I am one of those voices, declaring and prophesying over my generation that we will see the greatest outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit upon our lives. However, before the Great Awakening, God will begin the shaking. I believe this shaking is where we are today, especially in the body of Christ.
I am reminded of the prophetic utterance of the Prophet Haggai in Haggai 2:6-9:
“For thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place I will give peace,’ says the Lord of hosts.”
Before the nations turn to Him, it begins with a shaking. We see this happening in the natural and the spiritual.

Before the nations turn to Him, it begins with a shaking. We see this happening in the natural and the spiritual.
God said, “I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and dry land.” We have seen massive earthquakes, tsunamis, and unexpected tornadoes in the winter. We are in the shaking.
Looking across the body of Christ, we are seeing ministries, ministers, and people making transitions. Just recently at one of our weekly “Fire Nights,” which is our Thursday night prayer gathering, one of our young men had a vision of people being transitioned and moved into their divine place. This makes a whole lot of sense considering that this is 2012, with 12 being the number of government and order.
This should be expected and should come as no surprise, considering the book of Hebrews tells us in Chapter 12 (paraphrase) that everything that can be shaken will be shaken, and the only thing that will remain is that which is of the Kingdom.
If you do a study on the subject of shaking, it is caused by God’s voice speaking. This could be the reason for the shaking because God is speaking to many people about their divine assignment and getting them in the place of divine order.
Then the scripture goes into, “The silver is Mine and the gold is Mine,” which makes me think of those who are panicked about the world’s current economic difficulties. Could it be that God placed this in the scriptures to remind us that when the world is being shaken, remember all the resources we need to be sustained as the people of God are in our Daddy’s hand!
I think it is wise to prepare for financially hard times, but it’s not time to throw away our faith in our Provider. The Bible declares in Psalm 37:25, “Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendents begging bread.” God is our source. Not the man who signs your paycheck, and not the government. God will work through these and other sources to get you what you need. But I believe God is speaking through this verse and telling us this is not the time to panic about finances; rather just be prepared.
Look at the next verse: “The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former.” I understand that all this is speaking of a previous event; however, it still holds a spiritual truth. We are to stand firm in our faith and pray for the move of God that is here and building. We need to continue to follow the Lord in daily reading and prayer asking for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
We are already experiencing the glory of this latter end-time outpouring of God. It will be greater than any historical move of God because it’s not settling upon just a few men; it is coming upon “all flesh.” Get ready! We are in the climax of Joel 2:28 and we must continue to press in for more! If we will focus on this as the main thing, then we will reap the harvest of the last verse in this passage: “And in this place I will give peace…”
This is amazing! Despite all that is going on around us, when God shows up the world can be in chaos, but we still have His peace. No matter how rich someone is, or how poor a person can be, everyone wants to have peace of mind. This is why we must hold fast to our relationship with God so that we can survive the shaking! Matthew 6:33 is one of my favorite scriptures that illustrates the whole of this article: “But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
We are in the shaking and revival is brewing. If we keep Him first, we will see the glory of the Lord in the world’s darkest hour! You can survive the Great Shaking!
